Do babies really need knee pads?

On a thick, soft carpet they are fine without. On wood, tile, laminate, and even thin carpet, a crawling baby rubs the same two spots all day and they turn pink and rough. The pads put a soft knit cushion between the knee and the floor, so the pad takes the rubbing and the skin stays soft.

How do I wash them?

Machine wash cold, lay flat to dry. Skip the dryer, heat wears the grip dots down.
